As a staff member I had a good idea of the importance of communicating with supporters. Now, as a former staff member turned supporter, I can tell you how truly important it is. The more we know what’s going on the more likely we are to be consistent with our support. And in addition to words, we want to see pictures.

During my 10-plus years as a photographer with Worldwide Challenge I always included photos in my prayer letters. It was important then, but it’s even more so now. Images are everywhere, so they need to be in with your communications with your supporters. That’s true whether you’re sending a prayer letter or just making updates on Facebook. MPD, Community, and Text-Prayers (Guest Post)


Guest post: “Several times a week, if not each day, I will receive multiple texts from a group of 5 women. We are able to share details that are relevant only to people who know our whole stories, who are invested in our lives.”

These women for me, and the men for my husband, have created this intimate community through texting. I know that when I text that group, there are 5 women who are immediately taking me to the throne of heaven and interceding for me. Are you drowning in a sea of information that is the internet? Would you like to follow some sites regularly, but it would be just one more thing to do? For either question, a reader may be the answer for you. (I’m referring to web-based aggregators, not e-readers for e-books like Kindle or Nook.) If you don’t have a reader, then I hope by the end of this series, you’ll know some effective ways to follow content on the internet and whether a reader would help and also have some creative ideas to consider.
