Meet My Summer Intern

Meet Bethany, of one dress. one year. for freedom. (Her parents are on staff here at Lake Hart, working for Worldwide Challenge.) She’s a home-schooled teen, raising funds to fight human trafficking by wearing the same dress for one year. Bethany explains:

Every day, millions of men, women, and children wake up in slavery. Faced with the same bleak reality day after day, their dreams of freedom remain as just that–dreams.

So for a year, I’m wearing the same dress every day. (Don’t worry, though. I’ll be sure to wash it. Sometimes.)  I’ll use accessories to create a different outfit for every day, and I’ll post a picture of it on the blog. One reason is because it’ll give me a chance to experience waking up to the same reality day after day. But this is one I’m choosing. For countless others, it’s a choice that someone else made for them.

However, that’s not the only reason I’m doing it. My experience and my feelings don’t matter if they don’t change anything. That’s where you come in. Funding is key to the success of any organization, and we can make it happen. I’m wearing the dress, but I’m asking you to donate.

I knew Bethany was blogging about her experience and was pleasantly surprised several months ago when she asked to intern with me. Over the summer she put together material about how to get started with a WordPress blog and with MailChimp, an eMail subscription service.

This helped me tremendously, of course, but more importantly, will help you get started.  Here’s Bethany’s how-tos:
