Last week, Simon posted about digital day of outreach strategies used successfully by Philippines Campus Crusade for Christ. Yesterday, 87 staff at Lake Hart had our turn to use the WatchThinkChat media chat platform which our Global Digital Strategies team developed here at headquarters.
Using Cru’s evangelistic video, #FallingPlates, and Facebook, this new evangelistic tool allowed the staff to share a link to the video and then follow up by chatting with their Facebook friends about the video and their interest in knowing Christ. The app also can be used with Twitter and Skype and has a 4-week follow-up discipleship email series. In two hours, we had spiritual conversations with 296 friends and family. But, enough details… find out who our staff were able to reach out to with the gospel!

“I was able to connect with a FB friend who also makes surf films in CA. He is open to hearing more about Jesus so I’m going to send him some short films that I have worked on here. Praying for him to really know Jesus and give his life to our Lord.” ~ John I.
“I really enjoyed… the opportunity to take some time to engage friends online with the gospel… It was good to remember how easy it is to spend even a short time to take a step of faith and reach out to people right from my laptop. I’m excited to follow up more with a cousin who I chatted with a while whom I hadn’t been in touch with for a long time. Thanks to the global digital strategies team for leading us in the digital day of outreach!” ~ Erik B.
“I shared it with friends in Kuwait and Guatemala. What an easy way to get the message out worldwide. I would do this in an evening at home.” ~ Lynn M.
“It was a wonderful experience. I had the opportunity to connect with some family I haven’t spoken to in a while who I know are not believers and several of them took the time to watch the video. One of my cousins even reached out to me after watching the video to thank me for sharing. I am so excited to see what the future will look like for this tool. I’m so thankful I got to be a part of the Digital Day of Outreach.” ~ Angel M.
“I was impressed with the tremendous possibilities to reach such a broad group of people so quickly. This presents a wonderful opportunity to start spiritual conversations in a very nonthreatening way and then even opens possibilities for ongoing growth.” ~ Don T.
“I was prompted to reach out to people I had been thinking about for some time, writing and sending the link to Falling Plates to 2 high school friends, a cousin, a neighbor from our days in the Philippines to continue sharing with her, and a fellow missionary in the Philippines to use in his ministry. Thank You, Lord!” ~ Judy N.
“I changed my schedule last minute because I so wanted to do this! I love any incentive that encourages me to share my faith.” ~ Carol C.
More to Come!
The WatchThinkChat evangelistic chat tool is still under development. I’ll certainly keep you posted about this great new app!
